Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)

Review Date: March 27th, 2022

I’m definitely getting into the hang of the Universe website builder now. I’m discovering all of the features as time goes on, & I’m used to it now. But anyways, Star Wars has been my lifetime obsession for many years, ever since I was a little boy. It would be my #1 topic as a kid. But when I got older, I decided to dive into different topics. There, I discovered that movies is actually my #1 topic ever. Speaking of Star Wars, this movie that I’m about to review is THE ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL.

George Lucas started the whole Star Wars thing back in the 1970s. It even gained lots of popularity after the release of the very 1st film. But enough talk about George Lucas. Let’s get down to the review for today.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!

While there’s a Galactic Civil War going on in the galaxy, Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), & some of the spies from the Rebel Alliance have stolen plans to the Death Star, a massive space station that has the ability to destroy an entire planet. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), a young farm boy from Tatooine meets C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), & R2-D2 (Kenny Baker). He also discovers a holographic recording of Princess Leia, requesting help from Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) to rescue her. Shortly after, Luke meets him (Obi-Wan Kenobi), & discovers that he (Luke Skywalker) is the Chosen One.

Shortly after, Luke vows to learn the ways of force, & become a Jedi Knight like his father named Anakin Skywalker, & they plan to go to Alderaan so that Obi-Wan can train him. On their way, they meet Han Solo (Harrison Ford, who also plays Indiana Jones in a different franchise), & Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), & they hop on the Millennium Falcon. But Han Solo did shoot Greedo. The special editions, revealed that Greedo shot Han Solo 1st. But he dodged the blaster fire, & shot him. In the Disney+ version. Greedo’s final words are MACLUNKEY.

During their journey, Alderaan is destroyed by the Death Star. But they go to the Death Star to rescue Princess Leia. However, their rescue was a success. But it resulted in the death of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was killed by Darth Vader (David Prowse & James Earl Jones) at the end of their duel. Then, they go to Yavin IV in order to plan the attack on the Death Star. There’s also a remake of the Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader duel on YouTube as well. Here’s the video to it:

The Rebels then discover the Death Star’s weakest spot, in which the Empire hid it somewhere though. Then, they launch a space battle on the Death Star. The Rebels fight against the Empire. The Rebels are struggling, as Darth Vader leads a squadron of TIE Fighters. With the help of the Millennium Falcon, they manage to knock Vader’s ship off course. In the end, Luke Skywalker fires the target at the Death Star’s weakest spot, with the help of the disembodied voice of Obi-Wan’s spirit, & the Death Star has been destroyed.

Then, a victory celebration at Yavin IV occurs, & Princess Leia awards Luke Skywalker & Han Solo medals for their heroic acts. But Chewbacca on the other hand, doesn’t get a medal. 🏅

THE END (for now)

This movie has been 1 of my favorite Star Wars movies. However, the franchise itself is my favorite. But it’s hard for me to have a #1 favorite movie for me though.

OVERALL: 10/10
